Wet & Fatty Biltong

Our Wet & Fatty is made from premium outside flats to give you the beautiful fat layer and all the extra flavour to the meat. Marinated in a blend of pre mixed spices imported directly from South Africa.

The word ‘Biltong’ is derived from the Dutch words “bil” (buttock) and “tong” (strip or tongue). It’s essentially a strip of meat born out of survival when the Dutch arrived in South Africa.

Biltong is a high-protein, low-carb, air-dried meat snack that is rich in iron and other essential nutrients. Its nutritional value varies by fat content and ingredients, but a typical serving provides significant protein, moderate amounts of fat, and minimal carbohydrates, with a higher sodium content than some other dried meats due to the curing process.

Store biltong in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight, using a breathable container like a paper bag or muslin cloth, rather than plastic, to prevent mold growth and moisture buildup. If the climate is humid or the biltong is “wet” type, you can refrigerate it in a paper bag to slow spoilage, and for long-term storage, freeze it in an airtight container.  Consume all opened biltong within a few days, and never eat it if you see any mold.
